3 Steps to Get What You Want This Week

What Do You Want For Your Life This Week?

3 Steps To Get What You Want and Be More Excited About Mondays

Hey Glowers,

Happy Monday! I wanted to send you some positive energy today because I know that you’re going to log on to social media and everyone will be posting how upset they are that it’s Monday. They’ll post those “Can I have a weekend re-do?” and those “Monday, I hate you.” posts that will have you either ‘liking’ them to fit in or because you actually feel the same way. So, I’m here to be that friend and coach to say that you don’t have to feel that way. And you don’t have to ‘like’ those posts to appear to be a part of that gang that’s always looking for a reason to say ‘Life is unfair,’ or ‘Life can be so hard.’

I want to give you 3 ways to get what you want out of life this week. I want you to feel empowered to do something to change your feelings about Mondays. I want you to plan your week out today so that you can get excited on Mondays because you’ve got something to look forward to! Like when you know you’re going to a concert a few days from now – don’t you talk about it to your friends and think about what you’re going to wear? Or when you plan an international trip with your friends. My God-Sister, Chimere, literally packs her suitcase 2 weeks before her trips because she’s so excited (and organized!) and she has something fun to look forward to.

So, let’s make your Mondays feel like that! Here’s how:

Step 1: Create a Morning Ritual
We are creatures of habit. We develop ourselves and get results by what we consistently do. So, this week create a morning ritual to start your day powerfully and with intention. My morning ritual goes like this: I try to wake up at the same time (but the snooze button has been too accessible so I need to hide my phone at night or move the alarm clock farther away from me). Then, I’ll meditate for about 20-25 minutes. This is when I decide whether I want to clear my thoughts and think of nothing and visualize a white, blank space … or this is when I want to visualize what I see for my day, who I want to connect with, who I want to motivate, who I want to coach, how much money I want to make for the day, how powerful I want to be and how amazing my energy and vibrancy will be. Next, I go run (if the weather permits) or I at least grab my weights and exercise ball and do something to break a sweat.

Of course I prepare a healthy breakfast to nourish myself, and then I record my eating habits, my water intake, my energy levels, how many hours of sleep I got and a few other things on my Mindful Eating Diary worksheet that I’ve created. (It’s FREE to download on my site. Click here and print out as many as you need and share them with your friends!) And finally, and what I think is the most important  – I write down 5 things that I’m thankful for, sometimes more than that. And then I’ll plan out my day by writing down what I need to get done, what’s high priority and what’s low priority, and how I plan to win for the day.

Now that I’ve shared my daily ritual, I want you to share yours. Email me back and let me know what you do to make your day successful.

Step 2: Make a List of Things That You’re Willing to Give Up for 7 Days
We all have people in our lives and activities that we do that no longer serves us. It’s hard to just get rid of them cold turkey, but if we learn how to slowly replace those distractors and disruptors in our lives with more productive, meaningful people and things – we learn to start living more purposeful and getting the things done that we need to get done. I created a podcast episode about this very topic called Mindset, Motivation, Mastery and Money. Take a listen here. It’s one of my most downloaded episodes so far and women have told me that after listening to this one, they’ve been able to focus more and surround themselves with more ambitious, successful people.

So, what will you give up this week? Scandal? Empire? Happy Hour? You’ve gotta give up something and do something in that time slot to get closer to your dreams. For an hour it’ll take you to watch one of those shows (which by the way is propaganda to get you to be hooked on watching TV instead of creating your own Empire) or meet your friends for a drink  – you could be buying your website domain, hiring someone to design your logo, researching/reading or masterminding with other like-minded entrepreneurs in your city. I just wrote on my Facebook page that last year I gave up TV and shopping. And I’m not telling you that to get a pat on the back. I’m sharing that with you so you’ll understand that my brand was able to grow because of the sacrifices I made in my personal life financially and socially.

So, let’s make a deal. You give up 3 things this week (for this week only…although I’m secretly hoping that like Lent you’ll want to fast from it permanently after the assignment) that no longer serve you and then you email me at the end of the week to tell me you’ve stuck to it and the breakthroughs you’ve had, and I’ll send you a free module and worksheet of my Go and Glow Audio Course + Workbook that I launched recently in my Go and Glow Academy. I want to see you win!

Step 3: Make 3 Actionable Steps in Your Business
So this is the last step. Do 3 things this week in your business that you can tangibly see results from. I mentioned above that you could get your logo designed and secure your domain name at GoDaddy.com. You could also write your business plan (Or at least complete 5 pages of it. You have to give a quantitative number or else you won’t have anything to measure.). You could go to the bank and open up a business account, file the papers to LLC your business with LegalZoom.com, or get your business cards and fliers made.

JUST.DO.SOMETHING.MEASURABLE.

You’ll feel so proud of yourself. I promise.

Email me back on Sunday night March 1, 2015. Click that date, create an event in your phone to put it in your calendar (as a reminder to send me an email) and let me know what you did in the week to get what you wanted out of life this week. And I’ll send you a free module and worksheet full of personal development and marketing strategies from my Go and Glow Audio Course as a prize for being so AWESOME! And as a thank you for taking my coaching and applying it to your life and your business.

And if you need any marketing, branding or life coaching OR if you need me to execute your business tasks for you, email me at Natasha@GoandGlowProject.com and let’s set up some strategy sessions to take you from where you are now to SUPERSTARDOM.

I can’t wait to hear back from you!

Podcast Episode 006: Traveling with Reporter Melissa Hellmann

Hey Glowers,

Today’s podcast episode is an interview with San Francisco based reporter and journalist, Melissa Hellmann, who reports on news, arts, culture, health, education, politics and design, and who has traveled to over 20 countries! Melissa is a former colleague of mine from when I lived and worked in Shanghai, and at the time of this interview she’s living in Hong Kong and interning for TIME Asia and reporting on Hong Kong-China relations and international affairs.

In our interview, she talks about the cool stories she’s worked on, some awesome backpacking-in-India tales and other traveling experiences, and the importance of chasing her dreams and having the courage to change careers to work in her passion. A great quote from Melissa in regards to working on her craft and interning before she had her dream job was, “I didn’t want to spend my entire day doing something that I wasn’t especially interested in, so I needed to have a few hours in the day to do something I was really proud of.” And a great jewel about not giving up after she made some mistakes was, “You have to fail to realize what you’re capable of doing better.”

To read some of the stories she’s covered and to follow her travel adventures, go to www.MelissaHellmann.com.

Podcast Episode 005: International Entrepreneurship and Education with Gahmya Jenell

Hey Glowers,

Today’s podcast episode is an interview with the 2x Tedx Speaker, International Educator and Entrepreneur, Gahmya Jenell Drummond-Bey. She’s an American currently living in South Korea  – teaching and launching her own online educational platform. She speaks 5 languages, (yes, 5!) and has traveled the world – first living in Turkmenistan where she began her career in community health and education advocacy and also first explored the expat life.

A few great gems (out of the many) Gahmya shared with us in this interview are:

1. “If we allow ourselves to be mediocre, there’s someone out there being disappointed who won’t get what they need.”

2. “Our ability to breathe and exist is not for free. It’s the duty of each and every one of us to give what it is in us to give to the world to pay for our existence.”

3. “I say yes to myself as much as possible.”

4. “I had a rule of keeping my 20’s to myself.”

5. “Anytime you evolve and love on yourself you allow yourself to shine…to Go and Glow!”

Take a listen to this episode and share it with your friends who are entrepreneurs and who are educators! Gahmya gives great tips on how to build your own business with your own curriculum, which will give insight to teachers on how to work for the system and still create your own brand. Taking the Road Less Traveled

road

Hi, Glowers!

We’ve all read the poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. We understand the irony of a man who has come to a fork-in-the-road and needs to make a decision whether to go down a beaten path or take the road less traveled with unknown certainties.

How does this classic piece of literature apply to our lives now? Simple. Every day we’re faced with decisions that will (in either minor or major ways) affect our lives. Should we stay with our companies that we’ve been working for for the last 5 years or should we take that new job offer that sounds relatively interesting? But the thought of letting go of the familiarity of your coworkers and Jeans Fridays and the holiday parties scares you.

Or how about that boyfriend who you’ve been with for 3 years and who knows your family well and understands your mood swings and favorites of pretty much everything –  to trying someone new who isn’t verbally abusive to you and who has goals he’s trying to accomplish.

What about that opportunity to move to LA to pursue that acting career? I guess you could put it off for one more year to continue working to pay down some student loan debt.

Ahhh! You will NEVER take the road less traveled if you continue to play it safe or be stagnant and unimaginative. God wants you to take risks. He wants you to trust Him. He wants to see how adventurous you can be and in return give Him all the glory for when things DO actually work out! …because they will.

You’ve just got to understand that what you want to happen, you have to create. But you also have to understand that what you want will be something that our eyes cannot see. It’s only something the mind can conceptualize. You dont actually see it until you’ve taken a few steps to get closer to it. Whatever that IT is.

More importantly, God wants you to start trusting yourself more. You can’t and shouldn’t rely on man, but you should get still and be quiet for a while and understand that God is inside of you and you have to listen to hear His voice. And His voice will guide you.

It’s like when a plane is having a little turbulence – everyone gets quiet to listen to the pilot or flight attendant’s instructions or announcement. You have to understand that whatever new decision you’re thinking about making has to absolutely be aligned with God’s purpose and plan for you. And once you verify that – there’s no reason to wait or put a halt to what is destined for you.

The reason that road is LESS TRAVELED is because there are more people who give up on their dreams and the dedication it takes to out-work someone else and sacrifice time. That path is less traveled because most people want to fit in and live in the ordinary and safe cocoon of a fixed schedule of working, coming home to watch tv and then do it all over again the next day.

Most people just enjoy the idea of having a dream and telling people about it but never committing to it or executing it. And almost majority of people LOVE to watch other people go after their dreams so that they can sit back and be the critic and judge how awful they executed their SAME EXACT dream.

My challenge to you is to take that road less traveled. Leave that job for the new one. Break-up with that lazy, uninspired boyfriend and get with the one who has some goals. Move to LA or even out of the country and go implant yourself in a new environment! Go after what you can’t see…because it’s there and it’ll show up eventually. You have to believe in magic. You have to believe in yourself and you have to believe in God.

I hope you have an abundance of love and light in your life.

Until the next blog post, GO AND GLOW!
